This is the true story of Radio Caroline and the things that happened from the very beginning, why Ronan began the project, the memories from the mind of Tom Lodge and the first DJs on board of the ship.
Behind the scenes, why it was a success, who was involved, how it expanded, why it all ended, what caused the problems and why the dream collapsed.
The full story is narrated here by Radio Caroline’s Ugli Ray Teret who is still broadcasting the Caroline feel today for www.1540TheVoiceofPeace.co.uk on the Internet.
He joined the original Radio Caroline North ship “Frederica” off Ramsey in the Isle of Man in 1964 as one of the very first Disc Jockeys and true pioneers of British radio and he admits he has never quite recovered from the wonder.
Ray Teret (his mother named him Ugli) is the only person in the world who has had a picture taken with “The Beatles”, that Fab Four super group from Liverpool, each of them pointing to him with love and smiles. Lucky boy, ask him to tell you that story, which involves Harry Goodwin the famous “Photographer of the stars?”
When Ray was asked by Bob Maclure of Juniper Studio in the UK, if he would voice the two CDs downloadable story of “The Radio Caroline story (That ship that rocked the 60s)” that tells what it was really like in the sixties http://www.radiocarolinestory.co.uk/ he said “Let’s Go do it” and this is the result.
